Code of Conduct

The New Ireland Institute is committed to fostering an environment of respect, integrity, and constructive engagement. All participants, contributors, and members of the Institute community are expected to uphold the following standards while taking part in programmes, events, workshops, online classrooms, or any activity associated with the Institute.

1. Respect and Inclusion
Participants are expected to treat all individuals with dignity and respect, regardless of background, identity, belief, political viewpoint, or community affiliation. Discrimination, harassment, or intimidation of any kind is not tolerated.

2. Commitment to Dialogue
The Institute promotes civil discourse grounded in the values of the Good Friday Agreement. Participants must engage in discussions with openness, curiosity, and a willingness to listen. Disruptive, abusive, or inflammatory behaviour is prohibited.

3. Academic Integrity
Learners must uphold principles of honesty, originality, and fairness. Plagiarism, falsification of work, or misrepresentation of contributions is not permitted.

4. Ethical Use of Technology
Participants must use digital tools, platforms, and materials responsibly. Activities such as unauthorised recording, sharing copyrighted content without permission, or attempting to compromise systems or data security are strictly prohibited.

5. Professional Conduct
Individuals engaging with the Institute—whether as learners, partners, contributors, or guests—are expected to behave professionally. This includes meeting deadlines, completing tasks responsibly, and communicating respectfully with staff and peers.

6. Safety and Wellbeing
The Institute strives to create a safe learning environment. Behaviour that threatens the emotional or physical wellbeing of others is not allowed. Participants should notify staff if they witness or experience unsafe conduct.

7. Compliance with Institute Policies
All participants agree to follow the Institute’s Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and other guidelines published on this website. Continued participation may be revoked for violations of these policies.

Participation in Institute programmes does not constitute enrolment in an accredited academic institution, nor does it guarantee professional certification, credit transfer, employment outcomes, or formal recognition by any academic body.

While the Institute makes reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy, no guarantee is made regarding completeness, currency, or suitability of information for any specific purpose.
